| About Us The Musical Offering is an independent classical CD store and café-bistro where you can enjoy a meal or just a cup of coffee in a pleasant and sophisticated environment. It was founded in the 1970s as a record store which also sold printed music and books about music. In the early 1980s it was acquired by the University Press Books partnership and moved to its present location on Bancroft Way, directly across the street from the University of California's Berkeley campus, near Zellerbach Auditorium.
We are probably the last remaining independent all-classical CD store in the country. We maintain a comprehensive selection of quality classical recordings. Many of our titles are quite hard to find, and some are exclusive to us. We emphasize Early Music and strive to have the best collection of Early Music on the planet. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff will gladly assist you in finding the CD you are seeking, and if it is not presently in stock, we will happily special-order it for you. The Musical Offering is also home to Wildboar Records, the acclaimed record label founded by the late Joseph Spencer.
Our café serves a varied menu of soups, salads, sandwiches and daily specials. More formal pre-concert dinners are available by reservation before selected concert events.
Trade in Your Used CDs The Musical Offering offers store credit in trade for your used CDs. You can use this credit on your next store purchase or save it for a future visit. Credit slips issued by the Musical Offering never expire.
So if you have some classical CDs just gathering dust in your collection, trade them in. Any of our store staff will be glad to accept them in trade. Please remember that these CDs must be complete and in good condition. We reserve the right to refuse CDs that do not meet our present needs.
While you're at the counter, please peruse our used CD collection. We have a broad range of used discs and you can find some terrific bargains. Many of these titles are now out of print and hard to find.
